How to Apply

We are now accepting applications for Fall 2018.

Applicants are required to complete the Online MMSc-IMM Application. You can find the online application here:


  • Select “New Applicant” to create an account.
  • Please be sure to select the 2018 application for Master of Medical Sciences in Immunology.
  • You may save your application and view your application progress at any time.


All of the following supporting application materials must be submitted through the online application system:


  • Personal Statement: Your statement should be no more than three pages in length describing your interest in the program and your qualifications.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation: Follow the instructions in the online application form to notify your referees. Your referees will upload their letters directly.
  • Transcript(s): You will be asked to upload your (unofficial) transcripts while completing the online application. This is all that is required to be considered for the program. Please note that if accepted, Official transcripts must be submitted prior to matriculation. Official transcripts can be mailed to Selina Sarmiento, MMSc Immunology, 256 Jeffrey Modell Immunology Center, 200 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 or emailed as a secure electronic PDF to Official transcripts can be received directly from the college or university, or by the applicant if the transcript remains in a sealed envelope with the Registrar or University’s signature stamped across the seal.
  • GRE or MCAT score (waived for applicants with MD, MBBS, or equivalent): To send your official GRE scores directly to the program, use code 3812. MCAT scores can be submitted via email to as a Printable Score Report, which includes a verification code to verify the report’s authenticity.
  • TOEFL or IELTS (required for applicants for whom English was not the medium of instruction for their undergraduate or graduate degree): Applicants must score a minimum of 100 (TOEFL) or 7.5 (IELTS) to be considered for the program. To submit TOEFL scores, use code 3151: Harvard Medical School Graduate Education Master’s Programs.
  • Application Fee: All applicants to HMS Master’s Programs are required to pay a $100 application fee.


The application deadline for international students is April 1, 2018, and the deadline for U.S. citizens and permanent residents is June 1, 2018. All materials must be received and the application fee paid by the applicable date to be considered. Please note that applications are considered on a rolling basis, and admissions may close earlier than the posted deadlines if all spots are filled.
